Prom isn't necessarily the "Christian environment". There aren't any Christian songs that are played & there isn't much Christian behavior happening. You see girls grinding on guys, couples making out, and just people losing it. How do you, as a Christian, separate yourself from all of that?
1. Pray before you go.
I prayed all the way to prom & days before. I wanted to make sure that I was covered so that I wouldn't do anything that wasn't pleasing to God.
2. Know your limits.
It's okay to dance, but you have to be careful how you dance. If you just step from side to side, that's cool (mainly what I did). But if you are popping and dancing all up on a guy inappropriately, that's not cool. You're just dancing like everyone else & you're not standing out.
3. Be Cautious.
That night & when I went to Grad Bash, I was constantly thinking, "okay, am I being a great example?" Make sure you're doing things that you wouldn't be embarrassed if your parents or your pastor saw you.
I truly believe that God wants us to have fun as young Christians, but in a clean & pure way. If you want to go to Prom, pray about it first. I believe that it's not about where you are, but what you do when you are there.
Love you!
