What happens when you stop loving who you are? You look into the mirror & hate what you see. When you walk around campus, you start comparing yourself to the other girls that you see. You're not comfortable with yourself because you don't feel beautiful.
You know, I used to feel just like that. I used to hate what I saw when I would look at myself in the mirror. I would point out every flaw & some times call myself ugly. I hated my size, my gap, my skin tone, everything. It wasn't until my relationship with God got stronger that I started to accept me for me. Through Christ I realized that I was beautiful with all of my flaws & imperfections. Christ helped me see the beauty in me & not the flaws. Now that I'm at college, the enemy tries to get me to believe that I'm not pretty compared to all of the other girls here, but God's word reassures me that I am!
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 13:14)
You may have heard that scripture before or have read it over & over, but yet it still doesn't help you. You may have heard that you were made in God's image, but that still doesn't give you that confidence boost you want. Please realize that you are truly special the way you are. Your skin isn't too pale or too dark. Your hair isn't too straight or too kinky. The size of your jeans do not define who you are. Don't try to find your worth in clothes, in makeup & in boys. You can't & won't find it in those things!
You are God's beautiful daughter & He loves you unconditionally. That means that God accepts you just the way you are. He made every part of you & He thinks that you are to die for...literally (Check out John 3:16). Christ adores you, girl. If no one else thinks you are beautiful, PLEASE know that the almighty God made you in His image & every thing He makes is marvelous.
I challenge you to say nothing but positive things about yourself the next time you look in the mirror. I challenge you to say "I'm beautiful!" instead of "I'm so ugly". I challenge you to stop putting on makeup to feel more beautiful & learn to accept yourself au naturel. Girls, we have to stop putting ourselves down & comparing ourselves to others. You are your own person. You are special & unique the way God created you. There's a reason why there is only one you in this world. Accept her.
