"I think modesty is one of the best ways to let God's light shine through you..."
Meet Marisol. A 17 year old girl who loves the Lord & is passionate about living for Him. I've had the pleasure of meeting Marisol over social media, only to find out that she lives near my hometown! She is the first feature for Modestly Me! So with that said, here's Marisol's take on modesty...
Why do you think dressing modestly is important?
Dressing modestly is one of the most important things. Our body is a temple, and we shouldn't show off "what God gave us", as some people would say. I am one of those that people call "crazy for Jesus" because I always try to follow His word. In Timothy 2:9 it says, "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves with modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly arrray;"
You can't dress "modestly" in extremely short shorts and a low cut tank top. If you're trying to show God's light through you, people should know the difference between you and worldly people by the way you dress.
What is your favorite thing to wear? Why?
I love to wear skirts and dresses. I wear just skirts and dresses because I want to please God by being modest. I also love them because I've been wearing them since I was a little girl. That's how my mother raised me, and I wouldn't change that for the world. She always taught me that what you wear shows people that you are different, and it lets God's light shine through you for the whole world to see.
What's something you would say to inspire girls to dress in a respectable way?
I would like to tell girls that you can dress modest and still look beautiful. You are a temple where God comes and dwells. It doesn't matter what people say about the way you dress. You shouldn't please them, but please GOD! And you are a precious diamond in His eyes. Don't let the fashion of today's world change that!
