Where Have I Been?

   "She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said." (Luke 10:39)

    Hey friends! I realize that I have been M.I.A. for quite some time now. Don't worry, I'm still alive & I haven't forgotten about Be His Girl! So, what have I been up to.......

   I have been at the feet of Jesus. I realized that I needed so much more of Him & I was willing to unplug from social media, blogging, and bad relationships/friendships to get what I needed. I must say that these past few months have been challenging, but I have seen Jesus move in my life like never before. The intimacy with Him has been at a deeper level & it has been so refreshing. 

"But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, 'Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!'" (Luke 10:40)

    Many times we find ourselves in places where we need help. Our lives start spinning out of control, or we just feel hopeless. We need alone time with God, but instead of running to Him, we run to Facebook and scroll until our fingers get tired. We run to another guy hoping that he will love us better than the last guy. We run to the mall hoping to preoccupy our minds so that we're not focused on the real issue. We run to all of these things when we KNOW that they won't fill us! We'll wait until we reach the last straw before we run to God. 

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”(Luke 10:41-42)

    Know that in Christ is everything you need. Stop going to other things first & run to Him. Martha was so busy with everything that she totally missed her moment with Christ. She wasn't willing to glean from the one she was preparing for and He was right there!  Her sister knew that those other things were pointless because her right before her was everything that she needed. She wanted to embrace Jesus while she could. That's where our hearts should be. We should do whatever we can to hear from the Father while we still have a chance.

    If God is tugging on your heart to spend more alone time with Him, do it. If you are feeling empty & you need more, go to the Well that is never ending! Run to the Father & sit at His feet. Listen to what He is saying. Cast all of your cares upon Him. Allow Him to speak & heal you every where you hurt. Be like Mary & receive what God has for you. He's tired of seeing you down. He's tired of seeing you on "E". He wants to fill you, but you have to be willing to stop & choose Him.
  
    Can't wait for all that God has in store for this year. I've been writing, so I will definitely be back soon. Love you all!

Going Somewhere?

   Remember when you were about 5 and everyone would ask you, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" A doctor, a teacher, a nurse, a singer, a dancer: those are all things we've all said at some point in our lives. What was so special about that time is that many of us were determined to be successful. Now, if we were asked that same question, what would the answer be? Would it be a couple of shrugs? Or, would the answer would be a complex statement? Let's test it out, but in a better way: where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? What goals do you have for your future?

   We live in a time where relationships are overly promoted. Many 13 year old girls are more focused about having a "man" instead of their academics. Many 16 year old girls are having sex and becoming mothers before they can even graduate from high school with a diploma. Many high school graduates would rather work a part-time job than continue to college. What happened to the drive to actually become successful? What stopped us from our dreams? Tell me this, what is on your mind the majority of the time? Is it that cute boy that smiled at you in 4th period? Is it what that girl said something about you on Facebook? Or, is it how you're going to gain more followers on Twitter?

   We need to get back to that place where we aspire to be world changers. We live so much in the moment that we don't even bother to think about how our present actions can hurt our future. The Bible tells us that tomorrow isn't promised, but that doesn't mean that you just take life as it comes. No, make something out of yourself. I'm so tired of this society portraying women as nothing but sex symbols. I'm so tired of seeing young girls look up to the women that are on reality T.V. We admire everything about them from their attitudes to their loyalty to a man that isn't loyal to them. Wake up, young sisters! You can be so much better than those women. Don't waste your entire time on this earth trying to be the "baddest" & trying to find yourself a "real man". You are so much valuable than that! You are smart & God has a great plan for your life! (Check Jeremiah 29:11)

   With that being said, I want you to have a serious moment with yourself and God. I want you to find a quiet place and take a pen and paper along with you. I want you to think about the route you're on. Are you headed down the road of success or are you headed to destruction? One way that can tell you where you're going in life is the people that you surround yourself with. Are you friends determined to succeed in school, or are they constantly skipping and not doing their work? Do your friends encourage you to do what's right, or do they push you to do things you have no business doing? Most importantly, do your friends push you closer to Christ or do they push you away from Him?

   Next, I want you to seriously think about goals you want to accomplish in the next five and ten years from now. That might seem so far for some of you, but I promise it's really not. It seems like I was just 15, and now I'm 19. While you're writing what you want to accomplish, I want you to examine at your life now. Are your actions leading you towards this goal, or are they leading you nowhere. For example, your grades in high school matter if you want to become a doctor. How? First, you have to have a good GPA to get into a great university. Then, you have to continue to get good grades at the university in order for you to go to medical school. I'm saying this to scare you, but I'm telling you this so your focus can change. What you do now can highly affect what happens in your life later. Trust me, I know.

   Next, I want you to pray about everything that you've written down. Pray and ask God if it is His will for you to accomplish those things, and if it is, ask Him to guide your footsteps so that you can reach them. Once you have done all of that, I want you to put those goals in a place that is very visible so that you can see them daily. Back at home I have a vision board where I have placed things that I want to accomplish on. You can do the same or post them somewhere on your wall or your school notebooks. Place them somewhere where you can see them and be reminded of them! If you remind yourself of your goals, then it is more likely for you to actually have the determination to accomplish them.

   I want the absolute best for you, girl. There should be more high school and college graduation parties and less baby showers for teen mothers. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something! If you put God first and if you stay determined, you can do ALL things! Trust and believe that there is plenty of time for you to have a boyfriend and all that other stuff. Focus your eyes on Christ and on your dreams. You have the ability to break family curses and to become very successful. So, what do you choose to do? Are you going to keep doing poorly in school? Are you going to keep chasing after boys? Or, are you going to do everything that you need to do to become that teacher, doctor, or lawyer that you want to be? With God you can do anything. The choice is yours.

Motivation Monday: God Is With You.

Hey everyone! I'm finally at college! It's great here, but the transition hasn't been easy. You all know that I'm a girl that loves Jesus, but I'm in a place that doesn't promote Jesus often. It's tough because everyone curses, parties & does crazy things. That's not me at all.
My first few days here, I was very uncomfortable. I was around people that cursed (A LOT!) & I just didn't fit in. I prayed one night & then this scripture appeared to me: 

"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.

    Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you.

    I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

This scripture just so happened to be the verse of the day when I was praying to God. It reassured me that God is with me. He will not leave me during this transition & He will place me in my right place at the right time. 

I want to encourage you. If you're dealing with a tough transition like me, or if you're faced with a challenge & you're worried, just know that God is with you. He will never do anything to steer you wrong! He has your back & He's working out every problem for your good. Learn to talk to Him & thank Him in advance for the great things that He's getting ready to do for you. Don't be afraid because God is with you. Don't stress because God is in control. 

Let's pray: Father God, we thank you for another beautiful day. Thank you for blessing us beyond what we need God. Father, we thank you for never leaving us. God, we thank you that you are already in our futures & you are working out every situation & every challenge for our good. We're so thankful that you are our God & that you love us so much! We ask that you will keep us sane in the middle of your challenges. We pray that you will keep us from falling & help us to stand solid in you. We love you, God & we give you all of the glory & honor. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Motivation Monday: Just Talk to God.

Hey girls! I just want to come share something with you all to encourage you a little bit. I know that sometimes life can throw curve balls at us & just change, or sometimes our hearts get so heavy because of what's going on. Sometimes it seems as if everyone that you could count on has turn their backs on you. I just want to tell you that no matter what is going on in your life, you can count on God. He cares about every problem, every situtation & He cares about how you feel! Don't be afraid to call on Jesus. Don't be afraid to tell Him what's on your mind. Talk to Him. Talk to Him just like you're talking to a person that you can see.
There is no problem that is bigger than our God. There is no bad day that God can't change into a good one. Just talk to Him! He won't judge you, but He'll accept you openly. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all of your cares upon the Lord, for He cares about you. Whatever is worrying you, whatever is troubling you, give it to Christ!
The picture to the right is me about 2 years ago.

That girl in that picture was so sad & full of pain. I had made some mistakes a few months ahead  & I felt so alone. I was too ashamed to talk to God because I felt as if I failed Him. I literally cried almost every day & felt so guilty. It wasn't until I broke down & cried unto God that I felt better. God reassured me that He loves me regardless of what I had done & I was still His child. Just like He heard me, He will hear you. 

I want to let you to know that God wants to hear from you today. It's not complicated. Just sincerely tell God what's on your heart. You deserve to be free from the guilt, the heartache, the pain. Just pray to the Father. Everything will get better when you pray. It may not happen when you want it, but God will answer your prayer when it's the right time.

Motivation Monday: Better From Your Past.

Hey girls!!! Today, I want you to think about who you were about this time last year...
Were you better than you are now? Were you worst than you are now? Or, are you the same? I want you to really think & if you have said "yes" to any of those, this is for you.

If you said "yes" to the first question, I want you to know that it's time to find that person again. It's time for you to let go of whatever that caused you to get on the wrong track. That boy, those friends, whatever it is DROP IT! Think back on the joy that you used to have. Think about the structure that your life used to have. Don't you miss that? Let all of that motivate you to get back on track & be better! It's never too late to do right. With God, there is always hope! You can do it!

If you said "yes" to question number two, then don't think that you are good. You never know when you could slip back into your old ways so stay grounded. There is always room for improvement, so pray & ask God what you could do that would help you become better than you are right now! Don't ever settle. I applaud you for taking a step with God & making that change. Do it again, but this time to get better. Let that good you motivate you to become a BETTER you. There is more that God has for you.

Now, if you said "yes" that you were the same, I'm telling you just like I said before, it's time for a change. If you were good last year & you're the good now, let me motivate you to be BETTER! Good isn't good enough when God has far better!
If you were in a mess last year & you're still the same, let me ask you this: when will you give it up & let God have control of your life? Aren't you tired of failing? Are you tired of having bad things happen to you? Don't hold on to your past, but give it to Jesus. He wants to change you & mold you into a beautiful, strong young lady. Will you be willing to change?

I am better off now than I was a year ago. I mean God has changed me from top to bottom, but I have to always make sure that I'm praying so that I won't slip back into my old ways. Every time I think about going back, God reminds me how broken and messed up I was & that motivates me to keep going & to NEVER look back.

God just wants us to have that absolute best that only He can give us. Let's not ever be the same, or ever get comfortable with being just ok. Each year we should become stronger & our relationships with God should be better. I'm taking the step to be better than who I was. Will you join me?

Motivation Monday: The Word of God.

Happy Monday! Well, it's Monday....lol

Today's Motivation Monday is based off of Psalm 119:105. It says "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

The word of the Lord is so important in this Christian walk. In order for us to be like Christ, we must read God's word & LIVE by it. So, to help me mediate on God's word I've created a Verse of the Week for my infamous Inspirational Wall in my room. Each week I will write a scripture on a sheet of paper & tape it on my wall.

I encourage you girls to do the same, so that you can get the Word in your hearts & meditate on it!!! The Bible is soooo important & you must read it, so this will make it a daily part of your life.

Motivation Monday: What Motivates You?

Happy Monday! I know it's a little late in the day, but I have a question: what motivates you on this Monday? I know that Monday is like the most dreaded day of the week, but what pushes you to keep going?
What motivates me is the fact that I'm still alive and well. I know that that might seem simple, but to me that is EVERYTHING! Just the fact that Jesus allowed me to see another day pushes me to keep going. It's a blessing.
Today, don't complain, but think about something that inspires you & keep going. Don't give up. Stay motivated. Love you!

Motivation Monday: Speak Over Yourself

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. (Ephesians 4:29)

  Hey girls! It's Monday & it's time for our first Monday Motivation! So, today I was wondering what could I post today, so I prayed & decided to post on something God has been dealing with me about.
  As you see, the title is Speak Over Yourself. Let me ask you this, what are you speaking over your life? What are you saying about yourself? Are you saying "I'm fat", "I'm ugly","I'm dumb", or anything else that is putting you down? I am guilty of at least two of those. Lately, I'll look in the mirror & say "I'm fat." & the Holy Spirit will convict me. I was like "Okay Lord. Help me to see myself the way that you see me." So instead of saying "I'm fat" or "I'm ugly", I replace those with more postive & life giving words such as "I am a beautiful child of God."
  In order for you to see yourself the way that God sees you, you HAVE to first start speaking positive things over yourself! It starts with YOU! When you wake up in the morning, instead of saying "I'm ugly." say "I am beautiful!" Don't put yourself down! No, that has to stop. We have to stop determining our beauty & worth off of what society says is beautiful!
  I challenge you to take that step with me & to start speaking life giving words over you life. Don't you know that you are one of a kind? God created you in His own image! You are beautiful! You are smart! You are prosperous! You are God's beautiful angel! You're the apple of His eye. Speak over yourself nothing but positive things today & watch your day transform for the better!
