Not Just a Ring.

"Baby, you need to put that ring on the other hand."
"Are you engaged?"

So many comments. So many stares. So many questions about the ring. I'm not engaged or married, but I'm committed.
I've always dreamed about one day having a ring. One that sparkled, but yet represented something worth more than diamonds. At the age of 16, I received a ring after a series of the most impure moments of my life; a purity ring. Young & naive, I allowed myself to get into things that were not for me. I did silly things out of "love", but God's grace kept me.

This isn't just a ring to me, but it represents special promises. Promises that I was dedicated to keep. A promise to honor God with my body. A promise to never become one with just anyone. A promise to have respect for the body that He gave me. Three years later, I still remain faithful to those promises. It isn't an easy journey being young, but I am convinced that it will all be worth it.

This world is so centered around of sex. Songs are all about sex. T.V. shows are full of promiscuous stories. Sex is e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e, especially in the college scene, but I refuse to give in. Temptation is all around, but I remember that my relationship with the Savior is more important than any thing on this earth.

If you're still a virgin, keep it up. Don't allow a few sweet, temporary words take your forever! If you're celibate, continue to honor God first! If you're currently engaged in sex, please understand that your body is beautiful & sacred! You are God's treasure, not just any person is worth having a piece. Your worth is priceless.
